The Northwood Academy baseball team lost game one of the SCISA AAA championship series, falling at Wilson Hall, 8-4, Tuesday night.
Game two of the best-of-three championship series will be held Wednesday at Northwood. Wilson Hall is the defending AAA state champion.
The Chargers (13-12) grabbed a 1-0 lead with a run in the second before the game was halted due to rain. When play resumed, Wilson Hall (23-7) scored two runs in the bottom of the second after two errors and three walks.
Northwood tied the game at two on Kris Collins’ sacrifice fly, but the Barons scored twice in the bottom of the third to take a 4-2 lead.
The Barons plated three more tallies in the bottom of the fourth to go up 7-2. Northwood finished the game with four hits, while the Barons had seven safeties.
In the SCISA Class A baseball finals, Holly Hill Academy defeated Dorchester Academy, 10-0, to sweep the championship series in two games. The Raiders won game one, 6-3, Monday night.
Holly Hill won its third state title in the last four years and finishes the season at 19-3 overall, including a 4-0 record against Dorchester Academy.
