Or you can also look at postseason rosters.
The Gators, 9-1 and ranked No. 3 in the state among Class AAAA teams, landed two players on the South roster for the 63rd South Carolina Auto Dealers Association North-South All-Star Football Game.
Linebacker Raemond Robinson, athletic enough to earn a basketball scholarship to the The Citadel, made the team, as well as Gators offensive lineman Matt Steffensen. That gives the Gators four players who will participate in postseason all-star games. Fullback Virgil Smalls and linebacker T.J. Burrell were selected to play in the Shrine Bowl.
The Gators are among the state leaders in offense with 51.2 points per game and 360 yards rushing, and Steffensen has had a big role on offense. He's a three-year starter, has good size (285 pounds) and quickness. The defense has been just as impressive, thanks to the play of Robinson. The Gators are allowing only 10 points per game.
Timberland, which also landed two players in the Shrine Bowl, has two players on the North-South roster in defensive back Lee Mayes and defensive lineman James Middleton. Bishop England, which defeated Timberland en route to the Region 7-AA title, had only one player make postseason play. Quarterback Danny Croghan will play in the North-South game.
Berkeley coach Jeff Cruce is the coach of the South squad, and 19 players from the Lowcountry are on his team, including two Stags: linebacker Hunter Shepherd and defensive end Steven Sawyer.
The game will be played Dec. 10 at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium in Myrtle Beach, with a 12:30 p.m. kickoff. The North won last year's game, 26-6, and leads the series, 36-25-2.
