North Charleston opened up game one of the 2015 Dixie Majors World Series against Beaumont, Miss., with five hits and three runs in the first inning to jump out to an early lead en route to a 6-0 victory Saturday at Eagle Stadium in Ozark, Ala.

Cody Smith held Mississippi to one hit in three innings to earn the win, and Jamison Mobbs came in to earn the save and shut the door the last four innings, giving up no hits and no runs,

North Charleston was held to three scoreless innings until the inning when Billy Peatross’ pinch hit drove in two runs to put the North Charleston up 5-0. Zach Mosay’s double in the sixth added one more run and drove in Chris Singleton after Singleton tripled to put the South Carolina squad up for good 6-0.

North Charleston will play Paris, Texas, on Sunday at Eagle Stadium, which will be a rematch of the 2014 championship game in which North Charleston took the crown in a 2-1 victory.

The North Charleston Pre-Majors team opened up game one of the 2015 Dixie Pre-Majors World Series against the defending champs from Florida. North Charleston didn’t provide Kyle Davis with much support in the runs department, but he didn’t need much. Davis pitched 6 2/3 strong innings to carry North Charleston to a 2-1 win over Florida in seven innings on Saturday at Moore Field in Guntersville, Ala.

Hunter Branbeanec was charged with the loss. He lasted just 1 2/3 innings, walked six, struck out one and allowed two runs.

The first inning saw Florida score its only run on the day on an RBI single by Doug Hawseg.

North Charleston never trailed after scoring two runs in the second. Grant Sullens picked up the save.

North Charleston will play Arkansas on Sunday.
