CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- North Carolina used a nine-run third inning and held College of Charleston to five hits at Boshamer Stadium.
North Carolina starter Greg Holt allowed just two hits in six scoreless innings, combining with two relievers on the shutout. The Tar Heels (32-17) had 13 hits with four players driving in two runs each.
Greg Blake was 2 for 4 for the Cougars (36-14).
The Tar Heels had seven hits in the decisive third inning as 14 batters came up to the plate.
Charleston returns to action at 6 p.m. Friday at Appalachian State in the final Southern Conference series of the regular season.
Holt walked one and struck out three for North Carolina.
Zach Bernard and Jimmy Messer went three shutout innings in relief, striking out four.
