North American Lasers Championship sailing this week

More than 60 sailors have registered to compete in the 2015 North American Laser Masters Championship that will be sailed Friday through Sunday out of Carolina Yacht Club.

The event is open to competitors who are members of the International Laser Class Association and are at least 35 years of age. On Thursday afternoon, there were 40 registrants for the Laser Open class and 22 in the Laser Radials, with the event capped at 90 entries. Late registration will take place from 8-9:30 a.m. Friday.

Competitors are scheduled to sail 10 races. First warning is noon Friday and 11 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Charles Buckingham of Haiku, Hawaii, won the 2014 North American Laser Masters Championship sailed out of Columbia Gorge Racing Association on Cascade Locks, Oregon. Buckingham, who is registered to compete here, had four wins in seven races.
