COLUMBIA - It's becoming a recurring theme - South Carolina atop the AP Top 25 women's basketball poll, and Gamecocks forward A'ja Wilson earning an honor from the SEC.

That was the case again Monday, when the unbeaten Gamecocks stood atop the Top 25 for a seventh consecutive week. And Wilson was named SEC Freshman of the Week for the third time this season after averaging a double-double in a pair of victories last week.

South Carolina, off to the best start in school history at 14-0, received 24 first-place votes. No. 2 Connecticut received seven, and No. 3 Texas received four. Kentucky, which visits Colonial Life Arena on Sunday, moved up to No. 10.

Wilson scored 12 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in South Carolina's 77-58 victory last Friday over Auburn, and then had 21 points and 13 boards in a 75-51 victory over LSU Sunday in Baton Rogue. The Hopkins native leads USC in scoring at 14.5 points per game, and is second on the team in rebounding with 7.2 per outing.

South Carolina plays at Alabama on Thursday, and then hosts the Wildcats in a key SEC East showdown Sunday at 1 p.m. The Kentucky game will be broadcast on ESPN2.
