The East Cooper Chapter of the Coastal Conservation Association will hold its 13th annual “Celebrating Conservation” event at 6 p.m. May 20 at Omar Shrine Temple, located at 176 Patriots Point Road, Mount Pleasant. Tickets, which include annual CCA membership, are $60 single, $85 couples and children under 16 admitted free. St. Andrew’s Church of Mount Pleasant will hold its Fishin’ For a Mission Inshore Tournament on June 4. Eligible species are sheepshead, trout, flounder and redfish. U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 12-8 will offer the About Boating Safely course from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday at Coast Guard Station Charleston, located on Tradd Street. The cost is $45 which includes the textbook. The class will give the boater basic knowledge needed to operate a vessel safely. Topics will include boating laws, safety equipment and basic navigation. Goose Creek Bassmasters will hold its Summer Slam Tournament Trial on Saturday nights from 5-9 p.m. from May 7-Aug. 6, skipping June 18 and July 2. The championship will be fished Aug. 6. E-mail for information.
