TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Charleston Southern scored five runs in the top of the third inning to tie the game at 5-5, but lightning in the area caused Tuesday's series opener with sixth-ranked Florida State University (28-9) to be cancelled.

CSU (16-23) recorded the first two outs in the bottom half of the third before lightning began to near the field, causing the umpires to initially delay the game before finally calling it off completely.

The second game of this midweek series featuring the Seminoles and Buccaneers is set for 6 p.m. today at Dick Howser Stadium.
