Liberty 7, Charleston Southern 5

Nick Chinners went 3-for-4 and Anthony Markham settled down after a rough first inning on the mound, but Liberty took an early lead and was able to hold on and defeat the Charleston Southern baseball team, 7-5, Friday afternoon at CSU Ballpark.

The Buccaneers (17-27, 6-12 Big South) belted 11 hits and did not commit an error. The Flames (35-12, 16-3) recorded four errors, but their 14 hits were enough to outgun the home squad.

Liberty posted four runs on six consecutive hits in the first inning to take the early lead. Matt Williams started off the scoring with a solo home run over the left-field wall.
