The 22nd annual Fishing for Miracles King Mackerel Tournament will be fished Aug. 13-15 out of Ripley Light Yacht Club. The entry fee is $300 per boat; $350 per boat after July 31. First place for the heaviest fish is $25,000 guaranteed. More than 100 boats participate each year and the event has surpassed $700,000 in donations to its beneficiaries, the MUSC Children’s Hospital Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and the Coastal Conservation Association of South Carolina. Capts. John Irwin of Fly Right Charters, Hunter Allen of Lighter Breeze Charters and Jeremy Mehlhaff of Charleston Shallows will lead Orvis 2-Day Fly Fishing Schools July 12-13, Aug. 26-27 and Sept. 24-25. The classes are limited to six anglers and are based on Lowcountry tailing tides.
