Robert Olsen had one first, three seconds and one third to earn the outstanding male angler award in the 18th annual Carolina Lady Anglers Fishing For the Cure tournament. Debra Duckworth was the outstanding female angler, Rivers Rudloff was the outstanding youth male and Carmen Barfield was the outstanding youth female. Category winners were: Sheepshead - Matt Benton, 5.08; Robert Olsen, 5.04; Tom Benton, 3.60. Flounder – Robert Olsen, 2.04; Robert Olsen, 2.04; Rhonda Bath, 1.62. Trout – Randy Robbins, 4.36; Shorty Meade, 4.24; David Roberts, 3.06. Ladyfish – T.J. Britt, 1.90; Debra Duckworth, 1.88; Gene Roberts, 1.68. Spanish mackerel – Scotty McInerny, 5.78; Robert Olsen, 5.22; Robert Olsen, 1.82; Mystery fish – Scott Beane, 1.32 bluefish.

The 21st John “Roundtrip” Ham Memorial Fishing Tournament is June 20-21 on the Santee Cooper lakes. It is a live release catfish tournament that begins at 7 p.m. June 20 and continues until 9 a.m. June 21. Places are determined by the single biggest catfish weighed in by each team. The captain’s meeting is 6:30 p.m. June 20 at Hill’s Landing in Cross. The entry fee is $100 per team with an 85 percent payback. Proceeds benefit the Cross chapter of Wildlife Action, In. Registration forms are available at Angler’s in Moncks Corner, Canal Lakes Camp and Hill’s Landing.

Capts. John Irwin of Fly Right Charters, Hunter Allen of Lighter Breeze Charters and Jeremy Mehlhaff of Charleston Shallows will lead Orvis 2-Day Fly Fishing Schools on Friday-Saturday, July 12-13, Aug. 26-27 and Sept. 24-25. The classes are limited to six anglers and are based on Lowcountry tailing tides. The class is 12:30-3:30 p.m. Anglers then go out with a captain to fish tailing tides from 4:30 p.m. until dark. The Charleston Angler will hold a series of Fly Fishing 201 Schools led by Capts. John Irwin or Joe Benton at the West Ashley store located at 654 St. Andrews Blvd. The cost is $75 for the classes which run from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. and are limited to 10 participants.
