Jonathan Cremins has joined the College of Charleston men's basketball program as director of basketball operations.

Cremins previously served as a varsity assistant coach and teacher during the 2009-10 school year at South Forsyth High School in Cumming, Ga. His coaching resume also includes a stint as a graduate assistant men's basketball coach at his alma mater, Valdosta State, from 2007-09 and working part-time in ticket sales and marketing at the school from 2005-07.

While at VSU, Cremins' duties included working with the team's guards during practices as well as tracking the academic progress of his student-athletes. Additionally, he helped with the program's tape exchange program, produced scouting tapes for the Blazers coaches and players, assisted with off-season individual workouts as well as on-campus and off-campus recruiting.

Cremins is the nephew of Cougars head basketball coach Bobby Cremins.


Winthrop will play in this year's Preseason NIT. The Eagles will travel to Winston-Salem, N.C., on Nov. 15 and 17 for the first and second rounds of the Preseason NIT. The three other teams at that location will include VCU, Hampton and host Wake Forest. The team that wins two games at the site will earn a trip to New York for the semifinals and finals on Nov. 24 and 26. The remaining three teams will play in a consolation round at a site to be determined.
