COLUMBIA- Chad Holbrook officially will be introduced as South Carolina’s new head baseball coach today at an 11 a.m. news conference at Willimas-Brice Stadium. The 1994 North Carolina graduate, in his fourth season as a USC assistant in 2012, takes over for Ray Tanner, who was hired as athletic director last week. Tanner led the Gamecocks to College World Series titles in 2010 and 2011 and the CWS finals in 2012, all with Holbrook on staff.

It’s a rare change at the baseball helm for South Carolina, which has had only four head coaches since 1970:

- Bobby Richardson, 1970-1976.

- June Raines, 1977-1996.

- Tanner, 1997-2012.

- And Holbrook.
