Region 6-AA always provides good baseball, and this year was no exception. Bishop England won the Class AA state title and the Hanahan Hawks reached the final four.

Both teams had star players. The Hawks' standout pitcher/shortstop Bret Hines is the Class AA state player of the year as selected by the South Carolina Baseball Coaches Association. However, Jimmy Lindberg a pitcher/first baseman, was the player of the year in the region.

Both players are on the Class AA all-state team. Two other local players made the Class AA all-state team: Hanahan outfielder Ryan Manore and Bishop England outfielder Morgan Bastian.

The Lowcountry is well represented in Class AAAA with four picks: Wando infielder Connor Bright, James Island pitcher Austin Weekeley, James Island outfielder Bo Patterson and Ashley Ridge pitcher Austin Livingston.

Cane Bay pitcher Zach Wimmer is the only local player named to the Class AAA team.

In Region 6-AA, the Bishops' Bill Collier is the coach of the year. Six Bishops made the all- region team: Lindberg, Bastian, Andrew Kinard, Ryan Mills, Ryan Maksim and Shawn Singletary.

Hanahan had four picks: Manore, Hines, Nick Zerbst and Skylar Hunter.
