Charleston's Emma Navarro has claimed her first pro tennis tournament title in singles play.

Navarro, an Ashley Hall graduate and the reigning NCAA women's singles champion, won the W25 Orlando event on the ITF tour on Nov. 7.

The third-seeded Navarro knocked off top seeded Allie Kiick by 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 in the the finals on Sunday at the U.S. Tennis Association campus in Orlando.

Navarro is a former Post and Courier All-Lowcountry player of the year who won the NCAA singles title last May. She's now a sophomore at Virginia.

Navarro, the No. 3 seed in the singles draw, defeated No. 2 seed Su Jeong Jang in the semifinals. She's now No. 287 in the world in WTA rankings.

Her NCAA title earned Navarro a spot in the main draw of the U.S. Open, where she lost to Christina McHale in the first round. She's played ITF events this fall, making the quarterfinals in Fort Worth and in Berkeley, California.
