High School Football Predictions: Week 4

Scott Eisberg

Eisberg: 2-4 last week. 13-11 overall.

Miller: 3-3 last week. 14-10 overall.

Oh, how the mighty have fallen.

After the first two weeks of the high school football season, our two prognosticators were on top of world — money in the bank.

The last two weeks, not so much.

The Post and Courier’s Andrew Miller was a mediocre 3-3 last week, while ABC News 4 sports anchor Scott Eisberg was a dismal 2-4. Miller is clinging to a one-game lead in the season-long pick ‘em contest.

“It’s getting ugly out there,” Miller said.

This week, Eisberg and Miller differ on two picks.

Despite last week’s loss to Orangeburg-Wilkinson, Miller is ready to jump off the Colleton County bandwagon this week against West Ashley. Eisberg after watching West Ashley fall to Ashley Ridge last week is impressed with Wildcats.

Eisberg believes that Hanahan will beat Cane Bay, while Miller has the Cobras.

Here are this week’s picks:

Fort Dorchester at Goose Creek

Eisberg: Before last week, the Gators hadn’t lost a game to a Lowcountry team since 2009. Pretty amazing streak. I’ll pick them to lose two straight. Fort Dorchester, 38-10.

Miller: Goose Creek had issues stopping Ridge View and couldn’t score against Summerville. Will have issues with both against Fort Dorchester. Fort Dorchester, 28-7.

Summerville at Wando

Eisberg: The Green Wave train is rolling. Berkeley win got the spirits up, the Goose Creek win was a statement. Three in a row for the Green Wave. Summerville, 21-14.

Miller: No doubt that Wando wide receiver Ortre Smith is legit. Had more than 300 receiving yards last week against Lexington. Won’t be enough this week. Summerville, 31-24.

Colleton County at West Ashley

Eisberg: Going to jump off the Colleton County train after a tough loss to Orangeburg-Wilkinson. I was at West Ashley’s game this Friday night, and even though they lost, I was really impressed with some things the Wildcats did. West Ashley, 24-21.

Miller: Despite loss for Colleton County and a great effort from West Ashley in a loss to Ashley Ridge, going to continue to ride the Colleton County bandwagon. Colleton County, 21-20.

Ashley Ridge at Stratford

Eisberg: Ashley Ridge has an explosive offense. I think this will be a close game, but I just think Ashley Ridge’s offense is too much. Ashley Ridge, 42-28.

Miller: Ashley Ridge QB Steven Duncan is playing at such a high level right now, tough to pick against him and Swamp Foxes. Ashley Ridge, 33-20.

Hanahan at Cane Bay

Eisberg: I think this could be the game of the week. No team has impressed me more than these two this year. Cane Bay’s win over Summerville shows how legit they are with Summerville beating Goose Creek. Hanahan is flat out fast and explosive. Hanahan, 28-27.

Cane Bay: Have gone back and forth on this game all week. I think playing a tougher schedule will be the difference. Cane Bay, 24-23.

Bishop England at Timberland

Eisberg: A nice win for Bishop England last week against Porter-Gaud. Things get a whole lot tougher in St. Stephen this week. The Wolves have not struggled much lately with the Battling Bishops. Timberland, 24-10.

Miller: The Bishops finally get a much-needed win last week against Porter-Gaud. This isn’t Porter-Gaud. Timberland, 35-3.
