Higgins wins Carolinas Women’s golf title

Katie Rose Higgins of Charleston won her second straight Carolinas Women's Amateur golf tournament.


Katie Higgins of Charleston rallied to beat College of Charleston golfer Kathryn Miranda and win her second straight Carolinas Women’s Amateur golf championship Thursday at Treyburn Country Club in Durham, N.C.

Higgins fired a final-round 69 and finished the 54-hole tournament at 3-under-par 213. Miranda, who led after each of the first two rounds, shot a 1-over 73 in the final round and finished three shots behind Higgins. Sarah Bae of Cary, N.C., and Meghan Moore of Bahama, N.C., tied for third with scores of 219.
