Liberty 11, The Citadel 9

Liberty scored seven runs in the ninth inning to rally for an 11-9 victory Sunday over The Citadel in the final game of The Citadel Memorial Challenge at Riley Park.

The Bulldogs (1-2) owned a 9-4 lead heading into the ninth, but the Flames (4-0) roughed up Citadel relievers T.J. Clarkson and Zach Sherrill for seven runs on six hits. The big blow was a three-run triple by Dalton Sype, giving the Flames a 10-9 lead.

Clarkson (0-1) took the loss for The Citadel, giving up six runs in 2 innings. Justin Mackert, Tyler Griffin and Joe Jackson each drove in two runs for the Bulldogs, who begin a four-game series with Delaware on Thursday.
