Goose Creek ran its record to 10-0 Friday night with a 52-7 victory over West Ashley at Wildcat Stadium.

The Gators, who finished with 313 yards rushing, scored on all five of their first-half possessions.

Three of those possessions came in the first quarter as the Gators, 3-0 in Region 7-AAAA, jumped out to a 21-0 lead.

Tramel Terry scored the third TD of the quarter on his first carry of the game, a 66-yard touchdown run.

“He is simply the best player in the state in my opinion,”Goose Creek coach Chuck Reedy said of Terry. “He does so many things for us.”

Goose Creek scored 17 points in the second quarter to take a commanding 38-0 lead at the half.

Caleb Kinlaw continued the scoring for Goose Creek in the second half, scoring his second TD of the night in the third quartter. Backup QB Dominique Jefferson hit junior Kalan Ritchie from 21 yards out for the Gators' final score. It was Ritchie's second TD of the game.

Goose Creek starting quarterback Dantez Bennamon, who Reedy says is the player that makes his team go, passed for 90 yards and one TD.

Reedy was pleased with his team's performance and glad to be able to give some of his backup players some extended playing time.

“It was important because it was a region game,” Reedy said. “And we got to play a lot of our younger players in the second half.”

West Ashley (1-9, 0-3) avoided the shutout when QB Pedro Manigault hit Earnest Heyward on a 3-yard pass with 5:23 left in the game.

The Gators host Stratford next Friday in a game that will decide the 7-AAAA championship. Reedy is well aware of the challenge the Knights present.

“Considering both sides of the ball, they will be the toughest team we will face all year,” he said.
