The Goose Creek High School football team will be presented with the Army National Guard national ranking trophy today as part of the seventh annual MaxPreps Tour of Champions.
Goose Creek, led by coach Chuck Reedy, finished No. 31 in the final rankings and is one of 50 schools being honored on this season's tour.
Today's presentation, featuring officials from the Army National Guard and MaxPreps, will be made at a community celebration at 6 p.m. at the school's Fine Arts Building.
Goose Creek, which posted its best single-season record (14-1) in the 43-year history of the school, beat Greenwood, 37-21, in Clemson on Dec. 3 to win the school's first state championship. Goose Creek's girls basketball team was honored on the Tour of Champions for the 2009-10 season, when it finished 39th in the nation.
