Raemond Robinson, a 6-2 guard for Goose Creek High School's basketball team, has verbally committed to play for The Citadel.

Robinson, who also plays linebacker for the Gators' football team, averaged more than 16 points per game as Goose Creek went 19-8 last season. He will join ex-Gator DeVontae Wright on the Bulldogs' roster.

Robinson also reportedly considered South Carolina State, Wofford and Presbyterian.

College volleyball

The College of Charleston (9-7) notched a 3-1 win over The Citadel (6-6) at TD Arena in the Southern Conference opener for both crosstown rivals. C of C won, 25-18, 20-25, 25-11, 25-19, behind Sloane White with 14 kills and three block assists. The Bulldogs were led by Koana Mercer with 10 kills.

College soccer

Sarah Schaidle scored the tying goal in the 22th minute and Hope Atkinson’s goal in the 69th minute lifted the College of Charleston (5-4, 1-0) to a 2-1 SoCon women’s victory over Appalachian State (4-5, 0-1) at Patriots Point.

-- Western Carolina (6-2-1, 1-0) posted a 2-1 win over The Citadel (2-6-1, 0-1) in a SoCon women's game at WLI Field. Vanessa Aponte's 29th-minute goal tied it at 1, but WCU won it on a 70th-minute score.
