Marty Gantt's grand slam in the eighth inning pulled Charleston within a run, but Georgia Southern held on for a 7-6 victory over the College of Charleston Saturday and advanced the Eagles into today's championship game of the Southern Conference baseball tournament at Riley Park.
The Eagles will face Samford at 2 p.m. today for the title and the Southern Conference's automatic NCAA bid.
Charleston, at 39-22, has a slim chance of receiving an at-large NCAA bid.
The Cougars beat Georgia Southern earlier, 9-1, to force a second game.
