Goose Creek High Schools' two-sport star, senior Dantez Bennamon, has verbally committed to play basketball at Division II Clayton State University.

Bennamon, The Post and Courier's All-Lowcountry basketball player of the year in 2013, announced his commitment on Twitter.

Also a standout quarterback for the Gators' football team, Bennamon had received recruiting interest from The Citadel and Presbyterian in football, and from Furman in basketball.

Clayton State is located in Morrow, Ga., near Atlanta and plays in the Peach Belt Conference along with schools such as USC Aiken, Lander and Francis Marion.

The Lakers are coached by former Wofford and College of Charleston assistant Paul Harrison, and were 10-16 last season.
