The way things are going these days, Wando High School head football coach Jimmy Noonan might want to play his team's next game on Sunday.

After winning at Colleton County on Monday night, Noonan took his Warriors to Ashley Ridge for a televised Thursday night contest, coming away with a 17-13 victory to improve to 4-2 on the season.

Three of Wando's four wins have come on the road.

Quarterback Josh Walker's 3-yard run with 8:22 to play in the game proved to be the winning score, and the Wando defense closed out the game strong, allowing 22 yards on

Ashley Ridge's next two possessions.

The game was a defensive battle, with Wando taking a 3-0 halftime lead on a 29-yard field goal from Casey Clawson.

Ashley Ridge managed only 46 yards in the first half and finished the game with 156. Wando had 234 yards, with 209 yards coming on the ground.

Steven Wilson tallied 76 yards and scored on a 10-yard run in the third quarter. Cameron Rouse had 71 yards, including 60 in the second half.

Ashley Ridge took a 6-3 lead on its first possession of the third quarter when quarterback Romelo Doctor scored on a one-yard run with 9:24 to play in the period.

Wando answered in two plays, the first a 38-yard run by Rouse to the Ashley Ridge 10 following a 32-yard kickoff return by Trevor Pederson. Wilson scored on the next play.

Ashley Ridge answered with a 57-yard scoring drive as Doctor scored from 19 yards out. The turning point in the game came on the last play of the third quarter. With a first down at its own 34, a bad snap sailed 17 yards backwards with the Foxes falling on the ball at the 17.

On the first play of the fourth quarter, facing second-and-27, Doctor forced a pass downfield and Wando's Matt Norman intercepted the ball and returned it to the Ashley Ridge 20.

Six plays later, Walker scored the game-winning TD.
