COLUMBIA - South Carolina received a passing grade when the NCAA released its annual and multi-year Academic Progress Rate scores Wednesday.
'The Gamecocks football and women's basketball teams had the most to brag about. Football received a multi-year score of 980, ranking in the top 10 percent within its sport. Women's basketball received a multi-year score of 990 - ranked in the top 20 percent within its sport - and a perfect 1,000 for the 2012-13 school year.
'Baseball received a multi-year score of 955, while men's basketball received a multi-year score of 983.
'Schools avoid punishment from the NCAA with a four-year APR score of at least 930 and a two-year score of at least 940.
'Last week, South Carolina's football team was one of 13 Football Bowl Subdivision programs in the nation to receive academic recognition for its APR score. Clemson also received the honor. The Tigers' football team received a multi-year APR score of 983.
