South Carolina is No. 7 and Clemson is No. 13 in Baseball America's 2014 preseason Top 25 rankings released Monday. Virginia is No. 1.

While the first pitch hasn't been thrown yet, the rankings reflect the strength of the Atlantic Coast Conference - which has not won the College World Series since Wake Forest took the title in 1955.

N.C. State is No. 5 and Florida State No. 6 in the rankings. Miami is No. 16, North Carolina No. 17 and Louisville No. 20.

The Gamecocks are the highest ranked Southeastern Conference team, but the SEC has eight teams in the top 25. Others include No. 8 Mississippi State, No. 9 LSU, No. 10 Vanderbilt, No. 21 Alabama, No. 23 Florida, No. 24 Texas A&M and No. 25 Arkansas.

South Carolina opens the 2014 season on Feb. 14 at home against Bucknell.
