Linebacker Edward Muldrow (6-4, 196) of Snellville, Ga., committed to South Carolina on Saturday night, becoming the Gamecocks' sixth commitment for 2011. Muldrow contacted recruiter Shane Beamer and made his pledge.

He picked the Gamecocks over Clemson. He also had offers from Kentucky, Arkansas, North Carolina, Florida State, West Virginia, Mississippi and others.

"It seems like I fit their program," Muldrow said. "It's a good opportunity to play early. They want me to play Spur and there's only one guy there."

Muldrow is considered to be one of the top linebacker prospects in the country.

"He likes to hit a lot," said John Small, Muldrow's coach. "He likes to be active and move around. He's very mobile."
