FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- South Carolina starter Blake Cooper allowed two runs in seven innings and Jackie Bradley Jr. hit a tie-breaking double in the seventh inning as the Gamecocks beat Arkansas, 3-2, on Friday in Southeastern Conference baseball.
Cooper (10-0) gave up three hits and struck out seven batters, outdueling Arkansas starter Drew Smyly (8-1), who allowed three runs and six hits and struck out nine in seven innings.
South Carolina (39-11, 18-7 SEC) and Arkansas (38-12, 16-9) each scored single runs in the first and sixth innings. In the seventh, South Carolina's Whit Merrifield reached on a one-out bunt single and Bradley followed with a double into the left-center field gap.
The Razorbacks got two men on base with two outs in the bottom of the eighth but South Carolina reliever Matt Price coaxed a groundout from Andy Wilkins. Price pitched the final 1 1/3 innings to record his sixth save of the season.
