COLUMBIA — South Carolina’s March 1 home game against rival Clemson will be the first of more than a dozen appearances the Gamecocks baseball team will make on television this coming season.
The SEC’s 2015 baseball television schedule released Tuesday includes 13 regular-season games featuring South Carolina, against the Tigers as well as an assortment of conference foes. Beyond the noon game March 1 against Clemson, the highlight is the entire three-game series against defending national champion Vanderbilt, set for April 16-18 at Carolina Stadium.
The March 1 game against Clemson will be televised by SEC Network. Other Gamecocks contests scheduled to be televised include March 21 at Missouri on SEC Network; April 2 at Mississippi State on ESPNU; April 11-12 at Florida on SEC Network; April 16-18 against Vanderbilt, on ESPNU, SEC Network and ESPN2, respectively; April 26 at Tennessee on SEC Network; May 2-3 against Auburn, on SEC Network and ESPN, respectively; and May 15-16 against LSU, on ESPNU and SEC Network respectively.
In addition, the entire SEC tournament from Hoover, Ala., will also be televised, with May 19-23 pool and elimination games on SEC Network and the May 24 final on ESPN2.
Another 38 South Carolina games will be available online via SEC Plus, including each contest in the Gamecocks’ season-opening three-game series against the College of Charleston from Feb. 13-15, as well as the March 3 game against Charleston Southern in Columbia.
The Gamecocks return six position starters and 11 pitchers from last year’s team, which went 44-18 but was eliminated in a home NCAA Regional for the first time since 1976, and failed to advance to the Super Regionals for the first time in eight seasons. South Carolina has been ranked as high as No. 5 in preseason polls.
