The excitement over the South Carolina men's and women's basketball teams has spread to NASCAR.
Gamecock fans can see the team logo speeding around Martinsville Speedway on Saturday, thanks to a partnership between USC and a NASCAR team owner who once attended the college.
The school announced Wednesday that it is partnering with Bolen Motorsports for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race this weekend in Virginia. The race is set for 3 p.m. Saturday and will be televised on the FOX network.
Team owner Jeff Bolen, a USC alum, said his driver, Ross Chastain, will be sporting the Gamecock logo on his truck. Bolen said he is excited to celebrate the Gamecocks’ Final Four appearances.
“What an honor it is to carry the Fighting Gamecocks along for our race this weekend,” Bolen said in a statement. “Gamecock fans are like none other and we look forward to the opportunity to showcase the success.”
The USC women’s team will play Stanford on Friday at 7:30 p.m. on ESPN2. The Gamecock men will take on Gonzaga on Saturday at 6:09 p.m. on CBS.
