LAST YEAR: Hanahan won, 30-10.

COACHES: Charlie Patterson, Hanahan; Randy Hilyer, James Island.

NOTABLE: Hanahan has the No. 2 ranking in the state and is in the driver’s seat for the Region 8-AAA championship heading into the tussle with the Trojans. James Island, which is averaging 21.2 points a game, must solve a Hawk defense that has allowed only 8.2 points a game.

KEEP AN EYE ON: James Island quarterback Ty Stubbs. He has passed for eight touchdowns and scored six more running the football.

DID YOU KNOW: James Island leads the series 9-2-1.

NOTABLE: Woodland, ranked No. 4 in Class AA in the latest media poll, has back-to-back Region 6-AA heavyweights on the schedule with Ridgeland-Hardeeville and then Bishop England next week. The Wolverines remain one of the most productive teams in the state, averaging 42.5 points a game. The Wolverines have won their last five games by double digits.

KEEP AN EYE ON: Woodland quarterback Drake King. He passed for 199 yards and four TDs in a win over Battery Creek last week and added 148 yards rushing.
