Four Fireflies pitchers no-hit the RiverDogs

After walk off wins on back-to-back nights, the Charleston RiverDogs didn’t have any late inning magic left in the tank as they were shutout 9-0 in a combined team no-hitter by the Columbia Fireflies.

Thomas McIlraith, Alex Palsha and Johnny Magliozzi combined for the pitching accomplishment.

McIlraith struck out six and walked two over six innings. Palsha struck out four over two innings, while Magliozzi had three strikeouts in one inning of work for the Fireflies.

The Charleston faithful stuck around after the game to witness the incredible Human Cannonball, “David The Bullet” Smith, soar from centerfield all the way to home plate.

The RiverDogs continue their four-game series with the Fireflies on Sunday at 5:05 p.m. The RiverDogs present the first Holy City Sunday as the RiverDogs will dawn their Holy City jerseys and caps for the first time in the season.

The RiverDogs will start RHP Simon De la Rosa while the Fireflies will send LHP Kevin Canelon to the mound.
