Citadel athletes Malik Diggs and Josiah Johnson won Southern Conference titles at the SoCon Indoor Track and Field Championships this weekend at VMI.
Diggs won the men's 60-meter hurdles with a time of 7.94 seconds. Johnson, a former Fort Dorchester High School standout, won the men's 60 meters in 6.76 seconds.
Other podium finishes for The Citadel included Derrick Freeland, second in the weight throw at 59 feet, 4¾ inches; and Devin Singleton, third in the 400 meters at 49.0 seconds.
The men's 4x400 relay team also finished second.
Overall, The Citadel men finished fifth behind SoCon champion Western Carolina, and the Bulldog women were seventh behind league champ Samford.
Camacho-Quinn wins SEC title
Kentucky's Jasmine Camacho-Quinn, a former Fort Dorchester star, defended her SEC indoor title in the women's 60-meter hurdles with a time of 7.98 seconds on Sunday.
Camacho-Quinn has won four straight SEC short hurdles titles indoors and outdoors. She won the NCAA title in the 100 hurdles in 2016, and represented Puerto Rico in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janiero.
