The New York City Streetballers basketball team puts on a great show, but former College of Charleston standout Sedric Webber says the Cougar alumni who will be facing the Streetballers tonight at Carolina First Arena will put on a serious basketball exhibition.
"Any person who looks at that game thinks it's going to be a show and the 'And One' typical thing. We're not going to do that," Webber said. "It's not just going out there and showing off. It's an actual, for-real game."
The Streetballers team, coached by "Larry Legend" Gadsden, is made up of former New York City playground standouts such as the Pharmacist, Gordon Malone and Danny Artest along with Charleston's Kool Karl Ray, Louis McCullum and Dink.
Webber's team will include former Cougars Thaddeous Delaney, Danny Johnson, Marcus Hammond and Jermel President.
Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
The halftime show will feature the Jump To It City Dancers from the Arthur Christopher City Gym. Two-time Olympic gold medalist Katrina McClain is scheduled to be on hand.
Tickets are $20 and all seats are reserved. Tickets are being sold at Charleston-area Money Man Pawn Shops.
Webber said half of the proceeds will be going to the College of Charleston athletic department, while the remainder will be going to Larry Legends DREAMS Inc., which works with kids.
