Hampton Anderson of Anderson won the first 2016 FLW Bass Fishing League South Carolina Division tournament held Feb. 15 on Lake Murray, finishing with a five-bass limit totaling 25 pounds, 3 ounces. Jack Hoy of Hollywood finished fifth in the co-angler division with two bass that weighed 10-12

Michael Maxfield, son of the late pro bass great Carl Maxfield, tied for ninth with two bass that weighed 9-4 and also had the biggest bass among co-anglers with a 7-7.

U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 12-8 will offer its GPS for Mariners class from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Feb. 27 at Coast Guard Base Charleston, located on Tradd Street. The Charleston Angler will hold its 16th annual Spring Fling Fishing Expo at all locations on March 5. At Mount Pleasant, Capt. John Irwin will present a free saltwater fly fishing seminar at 10 a.m.; Capt. Mark Phelps will present Inshore 101 and DOA Baits at noon; and Capt. Haddrell’s Point Mount Pleasant staff will lead classes in offshore fishing from 8 a.m.-noon and 1-5 p.m. on March 5 that will deal in rod and reel setups, tackle, rigging ballyhoo, to even taking you on a boat in the harbor to see what your trolling spread should look like.
