Jim Gardas, a former men's golf standout at Charleston Southern, is among six inductees for 2010 in the Big South Conference Hall of Fame.
Gardas led CSU back-to-back runner-up finishes in the 1998 and 1999 Big South championship, the school's highest finish in the league tourney at that time. He finished third in the 1999 event for his second all-conference honor. Gardas also was exceptional in the classroom, as he was voted the Big South men's golf scholar-athlete of the year in 1997, 1998 and 1999, becoming the first three-time winner in League history. In '99, he became the Big South's first men's golf academic All-American.
Following his collegiate career, Gardas played in the 2003 U.S. Amateur Open. Gardas, who also played professionally, was inducted into CSU's Hall of Fame in 2008.
Among the other Hall selections is former Coastal Carolina men's soccer standout Guy Norcott, who later starred for the Charleston Battery in the pro ranks.
