Entry deadline Tuesday for Al Esposito Junior golf championship

The entry deadline is 5 p.m. Tuesday for the 61st annual Al Esposito Junior Golf Championship that will be played July 7-8 at Charleston Municipal Golf Course.

Divisions for boys and girls include: 9-under, 10-12, 13-14 and 15-17, with the two younger age groups playing 9 holes each day and the older golfers playing 18 holes each day.

The event is open to South Carolina residents under the age of 18 as of July 7. The field is limited to 104 entries, and the fee is $50 for the older age groups and $25 for the 9-under and 10-12 age groups.

Fifty-two golfers ages 8-18 participated in the Mount Pleasant Junior Open golf tournament played at Patriots Point Golf Links.

Brooks Harlow won the Championship Flight in the Charleston Golfweek Amateur Tour event played at Pine Forest Country Club with a score of 83. Stephen Kauble beat Biff Huff in a playoff for A Flight honors after both shot 80. Tony Walters also shot 80 to win B Flight. Casey Sullivan won C Flight with an 85. John Wilson won D Flight with an 88.
