New Citadel basketball coach Chuck Driesell has hired three new assistants to make up the core of his coaching staff.

Former Spartanburg Methodist head coach Rob Burke, Charleston Southern assistant J.D. Powell and Damien Price of Tulsa were named to The Citadel's staff Wednesday.

Burke had a record of 112-67 in six seasons at Spartanburg Methodist and also has served as an assistant at Limestone and Division I Campbell.

Price played one year of junior varsity and three years of varsity basketball at North Carolina, and for the last three seasons has been graduate manager and director of player development at Tulsa.

The Golden Hurricanes of coach Doug Wojcik had records of 25-14, 25-11 and 23-19 during Price's tenure there.

Powell, who graduated from Clemson, has been at CSU for six seasons under coaches Jim Platt and Barclay Radebaugh. He also has worked at Furman and for the Greenville Groove of the NBDL.

Powell began his basketball career at Clemson as a manager, then joined the team as a walk-on player and eventually earned a scholarship, playing for the Tigers from 1998-2000.
