District titles on the line in high school baseball and softball playoffs


District championships and berths in the Lower State finals will be at stake Wednesday night in the high school baseball and softball playoffs.

In Class AAAA baseball, Goose Creek, West Ashley and Wando all will be at home in district title games, each needing one victory to advance to the four-team Lower State tournament.

Goose Creek hosts defending state champion Lexington at 5 p.m. in the District V finals, while No. 2-ranked West Ashley is at home against West Florence at 5 p.m. in District VII. Ashley Ridge goes to Wando at 5:30 p.m. in District VIII, while Summerville must win twice at top-ranked Sumter in District VI.

In Class AA, Academic Magnet must win twice at Bishop England starting at 5 p.m. to advance to Lower State.

In AAAA softball, Stratford and Summerville are at home, each needing one victory for a district title and Lower State berth.

Stratford hosts Conway at 6 p.m. in District VII, Summerville is at home against Spring Valley at 5 p.m. in District VII. In the District V finals, Wando's home game against Lexington has been moved to 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
