The Citadel baseball team will open the 2012 season this weekend with at least two freshmen in the starting lineup and two more in the pitching rotation.

The Bulldogs host The Citadel Memorial Challenge on Friday through Sunday at Riley Park, taking on Towson at 4 p.m. Friday, Richmond at 2:30 p.m. Saturday and Liberty at 2 p.m. Sunday.

Austin Pritcher, a junior pitcher from James Island High School, is set to start Friday's game on the mound, with freshman left-hander Kevin Connell due to start Saturday. Freshman James Reeves or senior T.J. Clarkson will start Sunday's game. Freshman Mason

Davis will start at second base, with either of two freshmen -- Bailey Rush or Jonathan Stokes -- at shortstop.

The Citadel plays its first 16 games at home to start the season.
