HOLLY SPRINGS, N.C. - Charleston Southern rising senior Chase Shelton has earned a spot in the 2014 Coastal Plain League All-Star Game in Morehead City, N.C. on July 14, the league office announced Friday. Shelton, an outfielder for the Columbia Blowfish, is batting .264 with three home runs and 19 RBI through 31 games.

Shelton has played primarily in the outfield for the Blowfish, who sit atop the Coastal Plain League's West Division with a 4-0 record in the second half. The Columbia native was an honorable mention All-Big South selection this past year for CSU as the Bucs won 30 games for the first time in 14 years. Shelton was second on the club with 42 RBI and third with 75 base hits.

The Coastal Plain League is a wooden-bat summer collegiate league in the Carolinas and Virginia. Now celebrating its 18th season, the league features 14 teams and this year's All-Star Game at Morehead City's Big Rock Stadium will be the 16th such classic.
