On a night with 30-mph gusts blowing in off Lake Moultrie, the Cross Trojans kept to the ground and blew away Denmark-Olar, 34-0, in the first round of the Class A football playoffs.
The Trojans (8-3) pulled away in the second half, scoring three times after taking a 14-0 lead into the locker room. Two Cross drives stalled inside the 5-yard line, the first on downs and the second on a fumble into the end zone from the 2-yard line.
"I thought despite the two turnovers, our offensive and defensive lines carried the game," said Trojans coach Shaun Wright. "They dictated the play on both sides of the ball tonight."
The win keeps the Trojans at home for the second round, where they will face Lake View, a 25-0 winner over Blackville-Hilda.
Devontae Shepherd scored a pair of touchdowns, and the Evans brothers -- Dionte and Diomonte -- each had a touchdown to lead the Trojans.
Diamonte Evans' score came on a 46-yard fumble recovery, one of two Cross fumble recoveries that put the Trojans up 34-0.
With the loss the Vikings' season ends at a 4-7.
