SPARTANBURG -- The College of Charleston women's soccer team was picked to finish third in the Southern Conference championship in 2010 in a vote conducted by the league's head coaches.

Cougars senior defender Annie Pease was named to the 11-player preseason all- conference team, which was also announced Wednesday.

The Cougars, after going 12-7-2 overall and 8-3-0 in the conference, finished second in the SoCon in 2009.

Under the direction of first-year head coach Christian Michner, Charleston looks to exceed expectations.

UNCG was chosen as the preseason favorite to win the SoCon title. Samford was picked third. The Citadel was picked 10th in the 12-team league.
