Two home tournaments and a number of high-profile opponents highlight the College of Charleston's 2010 volleyball schedule announced Friday.

A mid-week match with Presbyterian on Sept. 7 will open Charleston's home season and kick off a seven-match home stand that will include both home tournaments.

In the C of C Classic (Sept. 10-11), the Cougars will face competition from some of the top conferences in the nation. They will open with a match against Big East member and NCAA Tournament qualifier Cincinnati on Sept. 10 before facing Auburn for the first time in program history and Oregon State -- both on Sept. 11.

The Cougars will open the season at the Northern Illinois Tournament (Aug. 27-28) where they will face the University of South Dakota, Chicago State, Oakland and NIU before traveling to Rock Hill, for the Winthrop Invitational (Sept. 3-4).

College football

Brian Rucker, whose coaching stops include Lenoir-Rhyne and Western Carolina, has joined the coaching staff at Presbyterian.

Head coach Harold Nichols said Friday that Rucker replaces Jomar Wright, who took a job on the football staff at Duke.

Rucker spent the past two seasons at Lenoir-Rhyne, coaching tight ends his first season and receivers last year. Rucker also spent two seasons as an assistant at his alma mater Western Carolina.
