College of Charleston athletic director Joe Hull said Friday he is not interested in the same position at North Carolina State. Wolfpack athletic director Lee Fowler was released Tuesday before his contract expired, and as an alumnus of N.C. State, Hull's name has been mentioned.
Hull said he has not been contacted by N.C. State and is excited about the direction College of Charleston athletics is headed.
"I want the best for them," said Hull, a former golfer at N.C. State and associate director of the Wolfpack Club. Prior to coming to Charleston, Hull was a senior associate athletic director at Maryland.
"I work with terrific people in one of the most beautiful places on the East Coast," he said. "We're building championship programs, graduating our student-athletes.
"We are doing things the right way. We've made major improvements in recruiting, facilities, academics. So we're on a terrific path.
"Next year, I really believe that this is going to come in on a different level. I expect next year we're going to have an exceptional year with several teams that are ready to win championships. I'm not interested in going to N.C. State. I love what we're doing here."
