The College of Charleston volleyball team, off to a 6-2 start, will play host to what head coach Jason Kepner calls one of the most competitive tournaments the school has hosted today and Saturday.
In the field are Big East member Cincinnati (7-1), SEC member Auburn (7-2) and Pac-10 member Oregon State (3-4). Cincinnati was in the 2009 NCAA Tournament. Charleston has wins over South Carolina and Winthrop. One of its losses was against Clemson.
Today (Matches at Carolina First Arena): Oregon State vs. Auburn, 4:30 p.m.; College of Charleston vs. Cincinnati, 7 p.m. Saturday: Oregon State vs. Cincinnati, 10:30 a.m.; College of Charleston vs. Auburn, 1 p.m.; Cincinnati vs. Auburn, 5:30 p.m.; College of Charleston vs. Oregon State, 7:30 p.m.
The College of Charleston women have a tournament scheduled today and Sunday at Patriots Point. Charleston (2-3) faces Iowa (4-1) at 7:30 p.m. today and meets Presbyterian (1-3-1) at 3 p.m. Sunday. Davidson (2-3) plays PC at 5 p.m. today and Iowa at noon Sunday.
The Charleston Pro Tennis League will open another season tonight at 6:30 at Charleston Tennis Center. There will be a DJ and free beverages for the public. Also, the evening will serve as the opening party for the league tennis state mixed doubles championships that will start Saturday morning.
