AIR FORCE ACADEMY, COLO. -- The College of Charleston men's soccer team allowed three goals for the first time this season as the Cougars were defeated, 3-1, by Air Force on Friday.
The Cougars' (3-2-1) goal came on Ralphie Lundy's penalty kick in the 83rd minute. Air Force led 1-0 at halftime, and the Falcons had a three-goal cushion before Charleston's strike.
The College of Charleston posted a 3-2 victory over UNC Wilmington in its second matchup of the day in its own Hampton Inn Invitational at TD Arena. The Cougars won, 25-19, 25-17, 21-25, 20-25, 15-12.
Madelyn McGinnis led Charleston (6-6) with 26 kills, four more than her career-best performance earlier in the day, when the Cougars beat Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 3-1. Charleston won, 25-12, 25-23, 26-28, 25-11.
Charleston's first match today is set for noon against North Florida, after UNCW and Texas A&M-CC play at 10 a.m.
--Towson defeated The Citadel, 3-2, in a matchup in the N.C. State tournament in Raleigh.
The Tigers won, 25-19, 23-25, 18-25, 25-21, 15-7, despite Koana Mercer's 21 kills and eight digs for the Bulldogs (5-3).
