Cougars’ Lawrence to face Team USA

College of Charleston guard Andrew Lawrence and the Great Britain Olympic basketball team will take on the USA team in an exhibition game at 2 p.m. July 19 on ESPN2.

College of Charleston basketball player Andrew Lawrence and the Great Britain national team will take on Team USA in an exhibition game July 19.

The game, in Manchester, England, is set for 2 p.m. Eastern Time and will be televised on ESPN2.

Lawrence, 6-1 and a rising junior for the Cougars, will play in the 2012 Summer Olympic games for Great Britain. The Games are set for July 27-August 12 in London.

Lawrence is the lone current collegian and youngest player on Great Britain’s team at age 22. Team Great Britain is led by current Chicago Bulls forward Luol Deng and former Dallas Mavericks forward Pops Mensah-Bonsu.

Meanwhile, the U.S. squad is comprised of NBA stars LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant, Carmelo Anthony, Blake Griffin, James Harden, Kevin Love, Chris Paul, Russell Westbrook, Deron Williams, Tyson Chandler and Andrew Iguodala.

For the Olympics, Great Britain is in Pool B with Australia, Brazil, China, Russia and Spain, while Team USA is in Pool A with Argentina, France, Lithuania, Nigeria and Tunisia.
