Columbia -- Nick Ebert was 2 for 3 with three RBIs and homered for the second consecutive game, and Colby Holmes worked into the sixth inning to earn the win as South Carolina (23-6) posted a 6-3 victory over the College of Charleston (23-8) on Wednesday night at Carolina Stadium.

Holmes was effective in five-plus innings, allowing two runs on four hits with four strikeouts and three walks. College of Charleston starter Jake Zokan (2-1) worked 2 2/3 innings and allowed four runs on five hits with three strikeouts.

Ebert doubled the Gamecocks' lead in the bottom of the third with a two-run homer to left-center, making it 4-0.

Matt Leeds and Baker Knox were each 2 for 4 to lead the Cougars.
