There isn't a defending champion in the Charleston City Amateur golf championship this year, but there are a handful of former champs playing in the event that runs today through Sunday.
Tim Tang won last year's title by seven shots for his second straight City Amateur victory, then turned pro after his final amateur event. It was Tang's second straight win in the city championship at Municipal Golf Course.
This year's field includes five-time winner Bert Atkinson, two-time winner Cordes Ford and Thomas Bullock, who won the 2007 title before Tang began his run, along with Mike Cobb, who finished second to Tang in 2009.
The field of 208 players tees off each day at 7:30 a.m., with the final group set to start at 2:20 p.m. The field will be divided into flights for Sunday's final round.
